About Ray of RAKphotographic was born in London in 1957. Growing up in the Northwest of London offered at that time little opportunity to connect to nature. From a young age he always had an interest in wildlife starting out with a keen interest in all things aquatic. Moving out of London over thirty years ago he extended his thirst for knowledge and began to study wildlife in greater detail, and from there photography was born. His photography concentrates on the natural world and is motivated by a desire to capture its beauty in camera. Rays` favourite photographs are often those which record a 'decisive moment' and show wild creatures in the context of their natural habitat, sometimes with an element of minimalist. Since starting photography, Ray has built up an amazing portfolio of images covering many subjects, other images can be seen on both Rays` social networking Facebook and Twitter pages. He has achieved a number of successes in major "UK" and International wildlife competitions and International salons. Examples of his work have been published in the National press, Wildlife Photography magazines and in the "RPS" Journal. Ray currently shoots with a Canon 1DX MKII, normally used in conjuction with a Sigma 800mm F5.6 lens, all supported with a Gitzo tripod and a Gitzo fluid gimbal head.
